Qatar Airways has set a new benchmark in aviation by operating the world’s first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 on a recent flight from Doha to London. This launch represents a major milestone for the airline, further solidifying its reputation for industry-leading innovation, following its recognition as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2024.
With this advancement, passengers can now enjoy complimentary, high-speed internet access throughout their entire flight, marking a significant enhancement to the in-flight experience. Qatar Airways becomes the first airline in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to offer this cutting-edge connectivity technology.
The airline has accelerated its plans for technology upgrades, aiming to equip 12 Boeing 777-300s with Starlink by December 2024, surpassing the original goal of three aircraft. The full Boeing 777 fleet will be equipped ahead of schedule in 2025, followed by a complete rollout across the Airbus A350 fleet in the summer of the same year.
This upgrade transforms in-flight connectivity, allowing passengers to stream entertainment, watch live events, engage in online gaming, conduct business, and stay connected with family through a seamless one-click system, all while at cruising altitude.
