Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, through its Radiation Protection Department, met with a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to discuss the development of an integrated electronic system for a comprehensive database on licensing, inspections, and radiation safety activities.
During the meeting, both parties explored strategies to enhance national capabilities and strengthen the regulatory framework, ensuring the safe, sustainable, and peaceful application of radiation technologies in Qatar.
The IAEA delegation presented the latest global best practices in data management, licensing, inspection, and regulatory control. They also outlined measures to improve regulatory processes in alignment with internationally recognized radiation safety standards.
This meeting is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry and the IAEA, reflecting their shared commitment to upholding the highest standards of radiation safety and safeguarding the environment and public health from potential radiation risks.
Qatar’s dedication to adopting global best practices in radiation protection aligns with its broader sustainable development goals.
