President of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Dr. Engineer Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi has said that Ashghal, over the past years, has accomplished the highways network of more than 750km bringing enhanced traffic flow across the country.
‘The highways, completed by Ashghal, represent about 95 percent of the road network connecting the stadiums hosting the 2022 World Cup, which actually contributed to the arrival of the fans to a number of stadiums that hosted the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 and 24th Gulf Cup, President of Ashghal said in his speech during opening session of the World Congress of Engineering and Technology (WCET).
The President of Ashghal further said that in 2019, Ashghal had accomplished 400 km of local road works and infrastructures serving many residential areas. ‘The Authority also signed about 7 new contracts worth around QR3bn to serve 3090 housing plots, based on the architectural plan approved by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, he added.
Dr. Eng Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi said, ‘The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ continues to implement sustainable infrastructure for the State of Qatar, the country that has proven its place among the ranks of the most advanced countries in the world. Qatar is keen to give the infrastructure, construction and development sector the highest importance in line with the aspirations of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
He also stressed that these achievements come within the framework of the State’s interest in the infrastructure, construction and reconstruction sector in line with the aspirations of its national vision 2030 and to serve its hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.
He said that Ashghal was currently working on implementing a wide range of infrastructure programs throughout the country according to its vision Institutionalization: Excellence in delivering and managing efficient sustainable infrastructure.
