Qatar and Cuba are exploring ways to boost bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of agriculture and livestock, aiming to contribute to Qatar’s efforts in achieving food security and self-sufficiency in the sector.
Qatar Chamber’s (QC) First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari met yesterday with Maury Hechavarria Bermudez Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Cuba in the presence of QC Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmad Al Obaidli.
The meeting touched on trade and economic relations between Qatar and Cuba, enhancing cooperation between the private sector and exploring investment opportunities available in Cuba in the agricultural sector.
Addressing the meeting, Al Kuwari said that the Chamber is keen on promoting relations between Qatari business owners and their counterparts from all over the world, noting that both countries’ relations are good and the leadership in both sides is interested to develop such relations.
The food security is a priority to Qatar and the private sector is eager to learn about business opportunities in Cuba in agricultural and livestock production.
He stressed Qatar’s efforts for achieving self-sufficiency, underlining the Chamber’s preparedness to promote opportunities offered by the visiting delegation in front of the Qatari business community. In turn, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Cuba said that Cuba and Qatar enjoy historic cooperation relations, noting that the objective of his visit is to inform the Qatari side on Cuban investment climate and sectors in which Qatari investors can invest.
He noted that both sides have many successful partnerships in many sectors including the health sector, pointing out that there many promising sectors in Cuba such as agriculture, tourism, livestock, technology, and construction.
He invited Qatari businessmen to visit his country to identify available opportunities and meet with Cuban companies to discuss building joint ventures for the good of both countries’ economies.
