The Ambassador of the Republic of Ivory Coast to the State of Qatar, Dr. Abdul Kadir Cisse, expressed his delight at the official inauguration of his country’s embassy in Qatar, stressing that they will do the best to promote common interests and increase the volume of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
During an official opening ceremony of the Embassy of the Republic of Ivory Coast in Qatar yesterday in the presence of a number of Ambassadors and dignitaries, Cisse said that after six months of appointment as an ambassador in Doha he could say confidently that cooperation between the Republic of Ivory Coast and the State of Qatar is going well and in the right direction.
“The opening of the Embassy reflects the will of the two countries to develop relations and diversify relations in all political, economic and other fields,” he noted.
He said that the Ivorian-Qatari Joint Committee’s initial activities are scheduled to take place in 2020 that will explore new fields of cooperation between the two friendly nations.
“This Committee will strengthen our strategic solidarity through mutual support for the positions of the two countries in the international arena,” the Ambassador added.
On the official visits between leaders of both countries, Cisse said that in 2017 Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani paid an official visit to Abidjan, while Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara, visited Doha in 2018 and earlier in 2013.
“The opening of the Qatari Embassy in Abidjan in September 2018 and the opening of the Embassy of Ivory Coast in Doha in February 2019 show the will and desire of the two countries to develop the existing strong and fruitful relations,” he said.
On economic bilateral ties, the Ambassador said, the Embassy of Ivory Coast in Doha sets very important objectives to achieve at the level of economic diplomacy. “In social and humanitarian field, the Republic of Ivory Coast looks forward to opening a “Qatar Charity” office in Abidjan to support the government’s social and humanitarian programs, which focus on the construction of hospitals and health centers; building schools and universities; and provide pure drinking water with electrification of rural and semi-urban areas,” the Ambassador said. He said Ivory Coast intends to stand side by side with the brotherly people of Qatar in the hosting of the World Cup 2022 in Doha.
