HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yeon held official talks at the Amiri Diwan on Sunday.
At the outset of the session, HE the Prime Minister greeted his Korean counterpart and the accompanying delegation, pointing out that their visit to Qatar would contribute to cementing the strategic relationship between the two countries.
The Korean prime minister lauded the outstanding relations between the two countries and said he was looking forward to further advance them.
The two sides discussed bilateral ties and means to develop and promote them in different spheres, particularly energy, trade, investment, security, health, tourism, and transport. They also reviewed regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Following the talks, both prime ministers attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the legal field between the Ministry of Justice in Qatar and the Korean Ministry of Justice and a MoU for co-operation and academic exchange between Qatar Museums and the National Museum in the Republic of Korea, in addition to an action plan regarding security co-operation in the field of training and exchange of expertise between Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and the Korean National Police Agency.
Several ministers attended the signing ceremony. On the Korean side, it was attended by members of the official delegation.
Earlier upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea was accorded an official reception.
HE Sheikh Abdullah also hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of Lee Nak-yeon and his accompanying delegation.
The banquet was attended by a number of ministers.
At a separate meeting between the Qatari-Asian Friendship Group of the Shura Council and a delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed, especially in the parliamentary field.
Chairman of the group Rashid bin Hamad al-Maadadi chaired the meeting.
They also discussed strengthening parliamentary co-operation between them.
The members of the Korean parliamentary delegation praised the economic, cultural, sports and legislative renaissance happening in Qatar under the wise leadership, and the great development witnessed in Qatari-Korean relations.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea left Doha on Sunday after the official visit to Qatar.
Lee Nak-yeon and the accompanying delegation were seen off at Doha International Airport by HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida al-Kaabi and Korean Ambassador to Qatar KIM Chang-mo.
