Qatar Petrochemical Company's (QAPCO) 3rd low-density polyethylene plant (LDPE3) cost QR 2.3 billion ($632 million), a Qatari government official said.
Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammad Al-Sabah, at a press conference following the launch of LDPE3, said the new plant "is a direct and physical manifestation of Qatar's National Vision 2030 … ." LDPE3 will boost QAPCO's production capacity to around 700,000 metric tons per year of LDPE, he noted.
QAPCO Chairman Hamad Al-Muhannadi said the company has made great achievements over the past 30 years.
"The LDPE3 facility is another step in our development plans to span the next several years," he said.
