The National Breast Screening Programme at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched an extensive breast cancer awareness campaign, focused on educating women in Qatar about the significance of early detection.
This initiative is part of the broader National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, known as ‘Screen for Life,’ which aims to promote education, raise awareness, and encourage early detection of both breast and bowel cancer in Qatar.
Throughout October, the campaign will utilize a mix of traditional and digital marketing strategies, collaborating with key governmental and private organizations, including the Women Wellness and Research Center, Qatar Museums, Qatar Foundation, Qatar Energy, and more.
Breast cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in Qatar, with early detection dramatically improving the chances of successful treatment. Early-stage diagnosis can lead to survival rates as high as 100%. The campaign highlights the life-saving potential of awareness and timely screening, with the slogan, “Screen Today for a Safer Tomorrow,” urging women to prioritize their health through regular screenings.
An informational booth will be set up at Vendome Mall on October 10 and 11, where women can learn about breast health, the importance of screening, and how to schedule mammogram appointments.
The breast screening programme targets women, both citizens and residents of Qatar, aged 45 to 69, who are symptom-free and have not had a mammogram in the last three years. Women in this age group are strongly encouraged to take this critical preventive step.
