The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has wrapped up the 10th Qatar Patient Safety Week, themed “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety.” The event attracted local and international experts, along with healthcare professionals, patients, and representatives from various sectors, including the Ministry of Defence and Qatar Airways.
The week featured a range of activities, including workshops on quality improvement, communication strategies for addressing medical errors, and ways to enhance patient-centered care. A total of 288 healthcare practitioners took part in these sessions.
Over 1,900 healthcare professionals attended the scientific conference, which focused on the latest advancements in diagnosis and patient safety. Experts highlighted the importance of accurate diagnosis and the role of modern technology in reducing medical errors. Participants shared global best practices in patient safety and stressed the need for collaboration across healthcare sectors to ensure continuous improvement.
As part of the awareness efforts, an interactive booth was set up in a shopping mall, attracting 171 participants who had their vital signs, BMI, and blood sugar levels checked. Visitors were educated on patient safety and encouraged to share their experiences to improve communication between patients and healthcare providers. Children were also involved through a playful clinic designed to teach them about key symptoms and healthy practices.
To mark World Patient Safety Day, 20 key institutions across the country lit their buildings in orange, raising awareness about diagnostic safety. Healthcare facilities also held their own events, including lectures and competitions to motivate staff and enhance patient safety efforts.
At the conclusion of the week, participants emphasized the need for ongoing training, modern technology adoption, and collaboration to further improve patient safety across healthcare institutions in Qatar.
Qatar Patient Safety Week, held annually since 2014, aims to foster collaboration between the Ministry of Public Health, healthcare providers, and the community to ensure safer healthcare across the nation.
