The State of Qatar is well on its way to reaching its goal of attracting 6 million visitors annually by 2030, according to a senior official.
“Qatar is making significant strides in its tourism sector, positioning itself as a distinctive travel destination,” said Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, during an interview with Qatar TV. He noted that in 2022, when Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup, the country welcomed around 2.4 million visitors.
“In 2023, post-World Cup, the number of visitors surged to over four million, marking a major milestone. The first eight months of 2024 alone saw about three and a half million visitors,” Al Mawlawi added.
He also highlighted that the upcoming months are packed with various events and activities that are expected to draw even more tourists, both regionally and internationally.
