Since March 2014, Qatar has reserved over $3.3bn (QR12bn) for the improvement of infrastructure through 29 projects across the country, according to the annual report of the Public Works Authority Ashghal.
Three of the main projects are located in the Doha Industrial Area.
Package 1 of the project has been allocated $384mn (QR1.40bn) for the improvement of infrastructure facilities and roads in the Industrial Area.
Package 2 of the project, which includes work on an area over 3.5mn sqm and 39km or roads, was allocated $340mn (QR1.24bn).
Work on the projects includes installing Intelligent Transportation Systems, strengthening drainage and street lighting and relocating and upgrading existing utilities.
Other key projects are located in Northern Wukair and Al Kheesa North and East. They include work on integrated roads, cycle paths and sewage networks and were allocated $185mn (QR674mn) and $181mn (QR662mn) respectively.
In addition, Bani Hajer North and Rawdat Abal Heeran have both been allocated $182mn (QR663mn) and $150mn (QR547mn) respectively for the improvement of infrastructure.
