It is boom time for Qatar’s construction sector as the government is set to spend around $103 billion on major infrastructure projects in preparations for the Fifa 2022 World Cup event, said a report.
The government plans to spend more than 47 per cent of the national budget on major infrastructure projects, reported Gulf Times, citing the organisers of Project Qatar construction expo which kicks off in Doha on May 8.
"The country is at a very acceptable equilibrium between the demand and supply in the construction market and growth will be witnessed as of 2018 and onwards," remarked George Ayache, the general manager of IFP Qatar.
“The construction industry plays a very important role in achieving infrastructure development and thereby attracting foreign direct investments into the country, consistent with Qatar’s vision of becoming a leading hub in the region for world events, including the FIFA 2022 World Cup,” he added
