Qatar Tourism has announced a record-breaking milestone, surpassing five million visitors in 2024. This marks a 25% increase in international arrivals compared to 2023, solidifying Qatar’s position as a leading global tourism destination.
Chairman of Qatar Tourism, H.E. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, highlighted the achievement, stating, “Reaching over five million visitors is a significant milestone for Qatar, bringing us closer to our goal of becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing, family-friendly destinations. This year-on-year growth, along with the sale of 10 million room nights, reflects the strength of our strategy and the collaborative efforts of our partners. This success not only celebrates our progress but also lays the groundwork for future expansion as we continue delivering exceptional experiences across all touchpoints.”
He added, “Our tourism targets are ambitious yet within reach. By 2030, we aim to triple visitor numbers, at least double in-destination tourism spending, and increase tourism’s contribution to GDP to 10-12%.”
Diverse Visitor Base
Visitors from the GCC account for 41% of arrivals, while 59% come from international markets. Major source countries include Saudi Arabia, India, the UK, Germany, and the US, reflecting Qatar’s growing appeal across various regions.
Surpassing Room Night Goals
Qatar exceeded its 4.79 million visitor target, with nearly 10 million room nights sold—surpassing the annual goal of 8.8 million. As of 2024, 56% of visitors arrived by air, 37% by land, and 7% by sea. The hospitality sector also expanded, surpassing 40,000 hotel rooms.
Steady Growth Throughout 2024
Visitor numbers increased consistently throughout the year, peaking during key events. The AFC Asian Cup in January set the tone for a record year, while the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, the start of the 2024/2025 cruise season, and high visitor numbers from Saudi Arabia in November contributed to this growth.
A Commitment to Excellence
Qatar continues to welcome travelers worldwide, emphasizing outstanding service and experiences rooted in Qatari hospitality. From cultural landmarks to world-class family attractions, Qatar remains dedicated to offering unique experiences that meet the expectations of all visitors.
