According to QNA, Qatar has welcomed over 3.2 million visitors by the end of August this year, marking a 26% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chair of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar, HE Saad Bin Ali Kharji, emphasized the significance of this growth, stating that tourism is not just about exploration but also a powerful force for transformation.
His Excellency highlighted that under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar has long recognized the critical role of the tourism industry. He pointed to the recent launch of the Third National Development Strategy for 2024-2030 as a reflection of this commitment, setting out the path for Qatar’s continued development and aiming to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The strategy underscores the importance of the tourism sector in diversifying Qatar’s economy, driving sustainable growth, and creating job opportunities. HE Saad Bin Ali Kharji noted that tourism not only strengthens the local economy but also fosters inclusion and cultural exchange, bridging divides and enhancing the sense of belonging and pride among the local community. By valuing and preserving cultural and natural heritage, Qatar enriches the visitor experience while nurturing its own identity.
