Prime Minister and Interior Minister H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani held an extensive meeting yesterday, with a number of representatives of the private sector and businessmen.
Discussions during the meeting dealt with a number of economic and developmental issues as well as the role of businessmen in supporting the State’s economic growth.
The Prime Minister stressed the government’s keenness to implement the directives of Amir H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on boosting economic growth in the country by providing the appropriate environment for diversification of the economy, attracting domestic and foreign investments and enhancing partnership with the private sector to support development trends, in light of Qatar National Vision 2030.
He highlighted the achievements made during the past period, the initiatives launched to support the private sector and the governmental measures implemented to enhance the investment environment in general, in order to open new horizons for the Qatari private sector and attract more foreign investments in various sectors.
He also discussed the initiatives launched by the State to attract investments, encourage entrepreneurs to contribute to innovative industrial sectors, and the nature of the incentives and facilities provided by the government in this regard.
He added that the State of Qatar has been keen to create an attractive investment environment through modernizing legislative and legal frameworks, facilitating procedures for investors and enhancing confidence in the business environment, in addition to providing advanced infrastructure as the basis for the continuation of growth and development in all sectors, and one of the requirements of comprehensive and sustainable development.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior stressed that the promotion of development and sustainable economic growth, which the State aspires to, is a joint responsibility between the government and the private sector.
He stressed the importance of furthering the partnership between the two parties to achieve the economic aspirations and strategic goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
For their part, the businessmen raised some issues that would develop the private sector and drive economic growth and increase coordination and cooperation between the public and private sectors.
He concluded by stressing the necessity of continuing such a meeting periodically between the public and private sectors and forming a technical committee from some concerned bodies in the State and businessmen to follow up the implementation of these decisions.
