Qatar has climbed four spots in Numbeo’s Health Care Index 2025, achieving the highest score in the Middle East and Africa, according to The Peninsula. The country now ranks 18th among 97 nations with a score of 73.4, an improvement from 22nd place in January 2024 when it scored 73 points.
Consistently ranked among the top 20 globally, Qatar remains the only country in the region to make it to this elite list. This recognition highlights the country’s commitment to maintaining a world-class healthcare system that meets international standards and earns global trust.
The Health Care Index assesses overall healthcare quality based on factors such as medical professionals, equipment, staffing, accessibility, and costs. It provides an evaluation of healthcare infrastructure, services, and resources available in each location. The rankings are based on user-contributed data and perceptions, making it a comparative tool for analyzing healthcare systems across different countries and cities.
Among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the United Arab Emirates ranked 29th with 70.6 points, followed by Oman in 46th place (65.1 points), Saudi Arabia at 55th (61.8 points), and Kuwait at 67th (58.4 points).
Globally, Asian countries lead the rankings. Taiwan holds the top position with a score of 86.5, followed by South Korea (82.8), Japan (80), and the Netherlands (79.3). These four nations maintained their rankings from 2024.
Among major global economies, France ranks 7th with a score of 77.7, Spain 10th (77.3), Australia 19th (73.4), the United Kingdom 21st (72.7), Germany 24th (71.9), China 32nd (68.7), the United States 38th (67.8), and India 44th (65.5).
Qatar’s continuous advancements in healthcare reflect decades of strategic investment, innovation, and commitment to public health. As one of the highest healthcare spenders in the Middle East, the country has significantly improved life expectancy and health outcomes.
