Qatar’s newest urban landmark, the Smaisma Project, spanning 8 million square meters, was officially launched by His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. This ambitious development, managed by Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, promises to become a major tourist attraction along Qatar’s eastern coast, adding to the nation’s growing list of world-class destinations.
The launch event, attended by key figures from the government, investment, tourism, and real estate sectors, underscored the project’s significance. His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Minister of Municipality, emphasized the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors to further Qatar’s economic, social, and environmental growth as part of Qatar National Vision 2030.
“As we move steadily toward achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, we are building a more prosperous and stable future for generations to come,” said Minister Al Attiyah. “This project is a vital contribution to our tourism sector, providing opportunities that meet the needs of this vibrant industry.”
Qatari Diar CEO, Eng. Ali bin Mohamed Al-Ali, expressed pride in leading the project, highlighting its role in enhancing Qatar’s tourism and economic standing. “This project will set a new standard for tourism in the region, writing an exciting new chapter in Qatar’s ongoing success story,” he said. Al-Ali noted the robust performance of Qatar’s real estate market, valued at US$485 billion in 2024, and its growing appeal to foreign direct investment.
The Smaisma Project will extend over seven kilometers of pristine beachfront, offering a blend of leisure, luxury, and entertainment. Featuring 16 distinct tourism zones, the project will house resorts, a large-scale theme park, an 18-hole golf course, residential villas, and a yacht marina. Visitors and residents can also look forward to high-end dining and retail experiences, making the development a versatile destination for both locals and international visitors.
One of the project’s core pillars is sustainability, with plans to incorporate smart construction systems and utilize local and recycled materials, aligning with Qatar’s broader goals for sustainable development.
The Smaisma Project represents a significant milestone in Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), which aims to diversify the country’s economy by increasing the contribution of non-oil sectors. Offering promising investment opportunities in real estate, tourism, and development, the project is expected to empower the private sector and attract foreign direct investment.
Qatari Diar, which has a portfolio of 50 projects across 20 countries with a total investment value of US$35 billion, continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Qatar’s real estate landscape. The company has spearheaded several pioneering projects, including Lusail City, the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), and Sheraton Park, all of which have contributed to the country’s rapid development.
As Qatar continues to evolve as a global tourist destination, the Smaisma Project further cements the nation’s commitment to offering unique attractions that enhance its appeal on the world stage. With its innovative design and comprehensive offerings, the Smaisma Project is set to become a cornerstone of Qatar’s tourism and real estate sectors.
