Saudi Arabia had nearly 54.5 million mobile phone users at the end of June while internet subscribers were estimated at about 14.7 million.
The mobile phone subscribers meant that the Gulf Kingdom, the largest Arab economy, had a penetration ratio of 187.5 per cent at the end of the first half of 2012, the Telecommunications and Information Technology Authority said.
Fixed broadband subscribers were put at 2.21 million while total broadband users through all telecom means were estimated at 12.7 million.
With a population of around 28 million, Saudi Arabia has one of the highest mobile phone penetration ratios in the world, the report said.
