Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport Jabarah Al-Suraisry signed off deals for the construction and maintenance of road projects worth over $1bn (SR4.2bn), according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The contracts cover consultancy, design and execution of road works, as well as automated road signage systems in 10 regions across the country.
They include projects in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, Asir, Tabuk, Hail, Northern Border, Al-Baha, Najran and the Eastern Province.
Al Suraisy said the works are all financed out of the Kingdom's current budget and that projects for other regions would be awarded at a later date.
