With a construction project pipeline worth SAR 375 billion ($100 billion), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains a major driving force behind the long-term growth of the MENA region’s construction sector, which has been projected to generate a total of SAR 16.125 trillion ($4.3 trillion) in investments for various construction projects by 2020. Moreover, under the Ninth Development Plan, the Saudi Government is poised to invest more than SAR 1.443 trillion ($384 billion) in social and economic infrastructure by 2014, with housing projects and vocational schools and colleges accounting for a large percentage of the total expenditure.
