The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed contracts to set up two power transmission plants and purchase five gas-powered generating units. The deals come within a program for boosting electricity generation to meet growing demand. The total cost of the contracts was put at SR1.376 billion ($365 million).
The 380/132kV transmission plants will be set up in Salboukh, north of Riyadh, and in Al-Kharj, said Ali Saleh Al-Barrak, SEC's executive chairman.
