Water and Electricity Minister Abdullah Al-Hussein signed 20 water and sewerage projects worth SR616 million ($164 million) in various provinces recently.
The first contract for taking potable water to Al-Kharj in Riyadh province is worth SR479 million while the SR 36 million second contract is for the operation and maintenance of the purification plant and supply networks at Hafr Al-Batin and Qaysuma in the Eastern Province.
The new project contracts signed by the minister also include laying of water supply networks in various locations in the Qassim project at a cost of SR18.4 million and another project for collecting well water in the same province at the cost of SR12.9 million.
The other projects for which contracts have been awarded include a SR12.8 million project for laying sewage pipes lines in Abha in the Asir province, a SR11.6 million project for water supply in the southern side of the Abha city, construction of feeder lines and storage tanks at the cost of SR 10.9 million in the Northern Border province, SR8.9 million sewage water lines in Riyadh province and SR6 million for sewage lines in Tabuk.
