The UAE is on the verge of a “positive breakthroughs” in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
Speaking at his Ramadan Majlis, Sheikh Mohamed praised the UAE’s front-line who are working to contain the pandemic.
“I would like to thank everyone in this [health] sector in person but please send them all my regards,” he said. “Send my regards to their families and ask them on my behalf to have patience.”
Sheikh Mohamed added that while it is “sad” to see people quarantined and preventing from going to religious services, his “advice again is to be patient.”
“Today we have much more clarity on the challenges we are facing,” he said. “I believe that for the first time the entire world has willingly locked itself up. It’s also the first time in the history of our planet that all mankind is facing a common enemy. So do not worry; we’re on the verge of positive breakthroughs.
“It’s true that until this happens, things will be challenging in terms of lockdowns and quarantines … but we will get through this.”
Abdulrahman Al Owais, the UAEs Minister of Health and Prevention, said that the UAE’s successful responses has been the result of prior contingency planning.
“There were many learnt lessons from this,” Al Owais said. “You are seeing what we have worked on for years achieve its true value.”
